Heavier than almost anyone expects, and the weight is part of the protection. UL will not rate a safe TL-15 or above unless it weighs at least 750 pounds or is anchored down, because a safe that can be removed is a safe that can be opened elsewhere. Typically: a residential burglary safe runs 400 to 1,000 lb; a TL-15 roughly 1,000 to 1,800 lb; a TL-30 roughly 1,800 to 4,000 lb; a TL-30x6 from 3,000 lb upward; and a vault door several thousand pounds on its own. Those ranges move by maker and model. This is why the delivery matters as much as the safe: doorway widths, turns, stairs, elevator capacity and floor loading have to be checked before anything is ordered, not on the morning of the install.

Considerably more than a drop at the curb, which is the difference between us and an online retailer. A job runs: a site survey, where we measure the route and confirm the floor will carry the load; scheduling and access, covering parking, service lifts and building hours; floor and property protection over every surface the safe crosses; the move itself, with stair-climbing equipment, rigging and the right number of hands for the weight; placement and anchoring, bolted to the manufacturer's spec, which is what makes the safe perform as rated; and lock set-up and handover, where we set the combination with you, walk you through operation, and take away the packaging and the old safe. What we need from you: a cleared path, somewhere for the truck, a decision on the final position, and a heads-up on anything unusual about the building.
